HOW THE LIGHT STAR POD CAME TO LIFE
One late night many years ago, a 20-year old who was living at his mother’s invited a friend for a night with some friendly drinks. Sipping and chatting in the poorly lit spare room, this young man suddenly had a gut feeling that something must’ve fallen into his drink. In that room was a frosted glass desk formed in an L shape. Instinctively, he pulled out his phone, lit up the camera flash, lit under the desk to have a closer look at what was inside the drink. There it was! The most mesmerizing sight there ever was. A breathtaking crimson mix of light, beverage, and glass. This sight took this young man by pleasant surprise, he was stunned at the captivating beauty that this ordinary drink suddenly took! A spectacular sight that made the drink much more inviting!
This was a eureka moment for the young man, this should be a thing he thought. That bumbling 20-year-old was me and that was the beginning of the journey that culminated in the creation of the LightStar pod.
The Science That Bolstered A Dream
The greatest discoveries often start as innocent flukes. The dream of the LightStar pod began as purely a pursuit to create properly illuminated drink cups that are not made of plastic. As we began our journey to create a working prototype, we stumbled on the discovery of an actual health benefit of having a well-designed and optimized LightStar pod. Our bodies have their own clocks. These clocks for generations have become unsettled due to our unhealthy interaction with too powerful artificial light during the dark hours. This led to the suppression of a vital hormone known as Melatonin which helps reduce stress and fight the very thing that makes us unhealthy long term. Upon this discovery, we doubled down on creating the perfect illuminated glassware that will help reset our body clocks.
The LightStar Pod design team settled on a number of key design considerations for this amazing creation. These include;
Glass-Fitted
Creating a unique glass material drinking tumbler that can be properly illuminated was no job for the faint-hearted. Our team of experts from the get-go was set on creating a real glass-made illuminated glassware product. This heavily informed on the considerations that determined the final design. We created a removable pod that seamlessly diffuses its light source to encompass the beverage of the glass.
Maneuverability
There is no point in the light pod if the user cannot turn it on and off at will. The LightStar pod design team created a precision pod whose on and off switch is easily reached with the tap of a finger. Light up your drink and take in the moment and light off when you are done or no longer need the light source.
Customization
The LightStar pod is also very flexible and can be set to the user’s taste in light. Want a brighter hue? Do you fancy your light in cold or warm tint? The LightStar Pod can accommodate. You can set it according to the mood of the moment without the hassle.
